
Bali is one of the 30 provinces of the Republic of Indonesia to the east of Java. It is volcanically active, and boasts mountainous terrain in its central, and 6 volcanoes towering between 1350m ad 3014m high, stretching from west to east of the island. The highest point is Mount Agung, also known as the “Mother Mountain”, soaring at 3142m, which is still an active volcano that last erupted in March 1963.
Bali was dubbed “Island of the Gods”, as thousands of temples have been erected on this island. At one time Hinduism was the predominant religion in whole Indonesia, and many great Hindu monuments were built, but it soon dwindled away with the propaganda of Islam over the Archipelago. At last, the final Hindu kingdom virtually evacuated to Bali, taking not only their religion and its rituals but also their art, literature, music and culture.
Today, almost 90% of the population is of Balinese Hinduism. Bali is sure a densely populate island and currently supports approximately 2.5million people. Bali is divided into 8 regencies and 1 municipal city – Denpasar, which is the capital city of Bali province. It has a tropical climate all year round, with a wet monsoon season starting from December to March. The main tourist locations are the town of Kuta (and its beach), Sanur, Jimbaran, Seminyak, and Nusa Dua.
Bali has sure earned many appellations, and is not without reason that it has become one of the greatest hotspot on the traveler’s list. It is often perceived as the Island of Paradise, and you would agree to this title should you have touched, felt and enjoyed the many wonders and beauties offered on and around this little mythical island: picturesque and immaculate landscape, rice paddies on hillsides terrace, serene volcanoes, dense and lush tropical forests, diversity of fauna and flora, pristine crater lakes, fast flowing rivers, refreshing waterfalls, deep ravines, hot springs, white long sandy beaches, warm blue water, coral reefs, beach sports, grayish black volcanic sand, magnificent temples and palaces, rich past and heritage, friendly people, ….
